Crystal H. Thornton joined Zebley, Mehalov & White on January 31, 2005 as an associate attorney. Crystal is a native of Dunn, North Carolina. She is a 2001, cum laude, graduate of Salem College, and a 2004 graduate of Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Petit College of Law, where she graduated with High Distinction. While at Ohio Northern, she served on the Law Review Editorial Board as Lead Articles Research Editor and as Vice-President of the Legal Association of Women. She was also involved in Phi Kappa Phi, William Howard Taft Inns of Court, and the Willis Society. She served as a teaching assistant in both civil procedure and contracts. She has received several awards including the National Association of Women Lawyers Award, the 2004 American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence, and book awards in multiple subjects including bankruptcy. Currently, Crystal is a member of the National Association of Women Lawyers, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Fayette County Bar Association, where she serves on the Public Relations Committee. She is engaged to Jarod Illar, an associate attorney at the law firm of Watson, Mundorff, Brooks and Sepic in Connellsville. Crystal is still very close to her parents, Ravonda and Charlie Tart, who reside in Garner, North Carolina. In her spare time Crystal enjoys spending time with Jarod and her tabby cat, Carolina. She also spends much of her spare time planning her upcoming wedding. Crystal assists with the firm’s bankruptcy, family law, and criminal defense matters.
